WordPress development and hosting, from one studio.

We design, build, host and look after WordPress sites, and have done for more than fifteen years. AI, marketing, design and security come from the same people.

Aboriginal owned, built for everyone.

Maku is 100% Aboriginal owned and operated, founded by a Ngarrindjeri person.

We bring more than 15 years of web, WordPress hosting and development experience to every project, and along the way we have hosted over 900 WordPress sites under our own hosting brand, Skyrack.

We work with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal clients alike, from businesses to community groups and public bodies, and while the ownership behind Maku shapes how we think about the work, the standard stays identical for everyone: experienced people, honest pricing, and software that actually ships.

An Australian WordPress studio.

Maku designs, builds, hosts and repairs WordPress sites. Around that core we run AI, marketing, design and cyber security practices, staffed by the same people, so a client who starts with a website can add the rest without introducing another supplier.

Everyone on a project has built and run production software before, and you deal with them directly. There is no account manager standing between you and the person doing the work, and no brief gets handed to a team you have never spoken to.

We use current tools, including AI, for research, first drafts, tests and code review. A person on our team still makes every judgement call and ships every line, and is accountable for it afterwards.

Building and hosting belong together.

The usual arrangement splits them. An agency builds the site, a hosting company runs it, and neither has much interest in the other’s work. When the site slows down or goes offline at midnight, you get two suppliers pointing at each other and nobody actually fixing it.

We run our own hosting environment through our brand Skyrack, so the people who wrote your theme are also the people who can read the server logs. Over 900 sites and fifteen-plus years of doing both halves has taught us where the real problems come from, and most of them sit on the seam between the two.

That is the same reason AI, marketing, design and security sit here too. Each one works better when the people delivering it can change the site underneath it.

A few things we won’t compromise on.

Ship early, ship often

Working software beats a perfect plan, so we get something live quickly and then improve it against real feedback.

AI drafts, humans decide

AI helps with research, scaffolding, tests and first drafts. A person reviews, edits and ships every result.

People who’ve shipped before

Everyone on a project has built and run production software, so nobody is learning the fundamentals on your budget.

Plain, honest pricing

Plan prices are published, and one-off work is quoted at a fixed price before we start, so there are no surprise invoices.

Built to last

We write the boring parts properly, meaning types, tests, backups and security, so the fast parts don’t break later.

The right tool for the job

Custom code where it matters and a page builder where it fits, chosen on whichever will be fastest to run and easiest for you to change.

WordPress and AI aren’t two separate businesses.

Most of the web still runs on WordPress, and most of it could move considerably faster. We build and host WordPress sites, then use AI to close the gap between what a site does today and what it could do: search that understands intent, content that arrives as a usable first draft, support that answers straight away.

The same team handles both halves, which is the entire point: you don’t need a WordPress agency and a separate AI vendor who never speak to each other, because we ship the whole thing from start to finish.
